SAGE’s Expanded Mission Statement

SAGE is a registered 501(c)3 arts advocacy non profit.  We operate as a platform for local artists and creatives to support each other and their community. We emphasize inclusivity, accessibility, quality, collaboration, and encouragement as it pertains to all facets of art and the right to artistic expression.

Founded in 2017 as a supportive entity towards the economic success and viability of every artist and creative in our community, SAGE adheres to the following tenets when pursuing artistic opportunities:

1. To thoroughly plan, designate, and curate opportunities for artists to be seen in the community through the art they create.

2. To emphasize that the artist’s greatest asset is their personal style, identity, and means of expression.

3. To recognize that within our community, various levels of tenure and ability exist within the arts sector. We honor those that have given their time and efforts to hone in on their talent as mentors, and facilitate learning experiences for the emerging artist through peer to peer interaction and apprenticeships.

4. To advocate on a local, county, and state level for living wage and equitable opportunities for artists to be employed by other businesses and organizations, and to welcome discussion and advisory positions as it pertains to providing and facilitating these opportunities.

5. To provide a physical location that affords anyone in the community to interact with the local artist, to present their skills and abilities within an open studio environment, and to have access to opportunities free from financial and societal barriers.
