Introducing SAGE’s “Social Prescription Calendar”, a collection of Brown County area arts and culture events that are FREE to participants and attendees.
In the summer of 2024, SAGE began researching the concept of Social Prescribing, collecting studies and reading our way through a pile of books that highlight the importance of social infrastructure in order to build social capital and all for the sake of living in a thriving, supportive community. What we learned was that our programs like Open Studio, our “One Night Only” exhibits, Creatively Engaged Community, and even our Modern Warriors initiative were all perfect candidates for social prescribing. We called on some of our best collaborators to oversee two of the necessary three roles in Social Prescribing- Link Workers and Community Organizations (many of these orgs are both!). In late January of 2025 we gathered and SAGE gave a presentation on the collaborative proposal. Thus, the Social Prescription Calendar made its way to existence, and we greatly look forward to being present for our community members and their mental health as we collectively address this epidemic of isolation and loneliness.

"Big Thunder" International Film Series
Join us for our International Film Series, presented in partnership with the Green Bay Film Society!
This month, we're screening Being Thunder (USA 2021).
Sherenté, a Two Spirit Genderqueer teenager from Rhode Island's Narragansett tribe performs in dance competitions at annual regional powwows of New England tribes. There is no formal rule which prohibits Two Spirit Genderqueer people from competing in a category different from their birth gender. But behind the scenes, tribal leaders manipulate Sherenté's scores or disqualify them outright because of their belief in traditional binary gender roles. Blindsided by ongoing dishonesty and deception, Sherenté continues to perform in spite of insensitive behavior by tribal leaders and others in their community. Co-sponsored by The Bay Area Council On Gender Diversity and moderated by Martha Marvel with a panel discussion at the conclusion of the film.
This series is free and open to the public, offering a fantastic opportunity to see compelling films from diverse cultures. Please note that these films are recommended for mature audiences.
